The guide(s) will give full information on the choices for each meal on the lunch and dinner during the tours. Light meal will be recommended for lunch starting with Korean noodle soup, assorted vegetable with hot stone rice.
Local buffet, Chinese, Pork BBQ, Beancurd Soup, Fish Soup, Grilled Fish are common menus for dinner. For these meals, the budge ranges from KRW3,000 (US$3.oo) up to KRW10,000 (US$10.oo) per person. At the most restaurants, local beer is KRW3,000 ~4,000 per bottle, Soft Drink, Coke, Fanta is KRW2,000 per bottle . Korean herbal wine is KRW7,000 -~ 8,000 per bottle.
Tipping at the local restaurnat is not required. Tipping for bell man at the hotel for carrying luggage is recommended. But some hotels in country-side don not provide the porter services to your rooms.
Please prepare for overnight bag or hand-carry bag when they visit Samwhasa temple because it takes a bit long to reach the temple site, by walk from entrance (parking lot) to main building.
Day 01 : Arrival in Seoul (Monday) |
Arrive at Incheon International Airport, where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of day is free at your leisure time. If you arrive in Seoul on the other date with the pre-extension booking, arrival transfer is not provided. When you have pre-extension booking at May Place Hotel, please take a airport limousine bus to May Place Hotel from bus stop 5A or 11B. Please look for bus with sign “Hannamdong” and prepare for some cash KRW14,000 per person (as of Nov. 2008). Day 02 Seoul City (Tuesday) B. |
After breakfast, start a city tour of Seoul, including National Museum, Secret Garden & Changdeok Palace and Seoul Tower on Mt. Namsan for a bird’s eye view of Metropolitan city of Seoul. Day 03 Seoul City/ Korean Folk Village / Mt. Songnisan Nat’l Park (Wednesday) B. |
Breakfast at hotel. Pick-up at the hotel in Seoul confirmed for each departure. Transfer to the Korean Folk Village outside of Seoul, where the old traditional style houses and life styles of the 18th ~19th century are being practiced. Day 04 Mt. Songnisan Nat’l Park / Gyeongju City (Thursday) B. |

After breakfast, start your full day tours of Gyeongju visiting Seogguram Grotto, Bulkuksa Temple,, Gwaeneung Royal Tomb, Scenic drive tour to Guryongpo Port. Day 07 Busan / Haeinsa Temple / Andong / Chungju (Sunday) B. |
After breakfast, transfer to Gayasan National Park via expressway. In Gayasan National Park, visit Haeinsa Temple. Haeinsa Temple has a world-famous Korean cultural treasure called Tripikata Koreana, which was made during the Goryo Dynasty to protect the country from the invasion of the Mongolian troops helped by the Buddha’s power. This Tripitaka Koreana was designated by UNESCO as the World Heritage. Proceed to Andong, 2 hours away from Haeinsa. Andong is the best preserved village with its traditional style houses. In 1999, Queen Elisabeth II visited the Hahoe Village and was welcomed with the Birthday Party Table decorated in the Korean traditional way. The Hahoe Village in Andong is famous for its own mask dancing performance. Day 08 Chungju / Mt. Doota / Temple Stay Programme (Monday) B. |
After breakfast, take the sightseeing boat for the lakeside scenery. (In the Winter season,. when the lake is frozen, boat tour will be cancelled.)Transfer to Mt. Doota via Gangneung City visiting Chamsori Gramophone & Audio Museum. This museum boasts of the incredible collection of 19th century’s gramophones and the 1st generation audio systems. Proceed to Mt. Doota for the unique temple stay experience at Samwhasa Temple. Upon arrival at the temple, change your clothes to temple uniforms prepared by the temple. Orientations will be given on the various things to know about the temple stay regarding regulations and schedule. Attend evening ceremony of bell-ringing, evening chanting mass and Meditation course. For one night, you will not have phone and TV in your private Korean traditional style Ondol room. Day 09 Day 09 Sunrise View at the East Coast / Mt. Seorak (Tuesday) B. |
Wake up at 3 am for morning mass (for the volunteers only). After breakfast, transfer to DMZ Unification Observatory at the border line located at the East Coast for a very close view of the North Korea. Return to Mt. Seorak National Park for the cable car ride to Gwonkeumsansung Fortress and the visit to Shinheungsa Temple. (You will have a chance to enjoy hot spring swim or sauna at the Waterpia Spa Park at your own expense return to hotel on own by taxi after enjoying the best water park of Korea). In Winter season, ski resort visit can be arranged at your own expense for ski gear rental fee and lift fee. The Alps Ski Resort is 40 minutes driving away from your hotel. Day 10 Mt. Seorak / Seoul City (Wednesday) B. |
After breakfast, transfer to Gapyeong to visit Morning Calm Forest of Flowers and Trees, which displays unique Korean Wild flowers and trees in a garden located in the mountain valley. (For the tours in the months of Jan, Feb, March, April, Nov, Dec, visit Yangpyeong Filming Studio with all the movie sets instead of Morning Calm Forest as the flowers in the garden are not blooming enough in these months.) Transfer to Seoul and visit Itaewon Street for your free shopping time for the leather bags, the shoes, the Korean dolls, etc. Check-in to hotel.
